1. How did you get introduced to the non-subscription industry?
Our insurance broker at Conn’s HomePlus introduced us based on the success of other clients with successful programs.
2. How were you introduced to ARAWC?
Our nonsubscriber consultant invited me to their annual meeting.
3. Tell us about your company.
Conn’s HomePlus is a specialty retailer of home goods, including furniture, appliances and consumer electronics, with a mission to elevate home life to home love. With more than 150 stores across 15 states and online at Conns.com, our over 4,000 employees strive to help all customers create a home they love through access to high-quality products, next-day delivery and personalized payment options. We provide flexible in-house credit options for our customers in additional to third-party financing programs and third-party lease-to-own payment plans.
4. What benefits have you seen so far from being an ARAWC member?
Having an industry advocate that educates on what the majority of nonsubscribing companies do to improve injury outcomes is the most critically beneficial aspect of membership. ARAWC is also heavily involved in government relations, staying abreast of changes in law that may impact our industry and advocating for positive change with lawmakers.
5. Why is ARAWC important to your company?
ARAWC gives the industry a voice and a place to network with other industry members.
6. Were you familiar with injury benefit programs prior to becoming a non-subscriber? And what has been your impression of injury benefit programs before and after you left the workers’ comp system?
I wasn’t very familiar with nonsubscription before we set up our injury benefit program, however, once you move out of the State system it is hard to consider going back. One of the benefits I noted when first converting was access to a larger pool of doctors and specialists which helps to ensure our associates are receiving the best care possible.
7. Have you had the opportunity to meet and chat with other ARAWC members, either within your industry sector or in general? And what has been your impression of ARAWC and the organization’s efforts so far?
Absolutely. ARAWC has many volunteers with broad industry experience. It is nice to see the passion these professionals have for the industry and their dedication to taking care of their injured associates.
