Patricia Humphreys
1. How did you get introduced to the non-subscriber industry?
Many years ago, a national retail client asked us to develop their non-subscriber network in Texas. Our mutual goal was to achieve better medical outcomes for injured employees by engaging the services of evidence-based providers. Being able to direct care to quality providers under non-subscription continues to be a joyous journey as we continue to see disabilities and overutilization of services decrease while better medical outcomes significantly increase.
2. How were you introduced to ARAWC?
It had to have been Bill Minick and the Partnersource team. We work closely with Partnersource and their forward-thinking leadership so, early on, an introduction was made to the benefits of ARAWC.
3. Tell us about your company.
Established in 2000, Corporate Remedies, Inc. is a provider management organization that specializes in the development and management of evidence-based provider panels for Texas non-subscribers. Our company is the result of collaborative partnering with several national employers and medical influencers who expressed frustration with traditional discount-driven networks. They wanted a better way to treat work injuries which would result in better medical outcomes. Together, we embarked on a mission to create the first “invitation only” evidence-based occupational network for Texas non-subscribers. Our network recruits providers whose main focus is improving medical outcomes, not increasing medical income. Corporate Remedies’ prestigious roster of clients includes a diverse mixture of private and public entities, including some of the nation’s most respected retailers and industry leaders. Today, we are comprised of 3 distinct networks: Occ-med primary, outpatient therapy, and diagnostic networks which serve urban, suburban, and rural markets in Texas and Oklahoma.
4. What benefits have you seen so far from being an ARAWC member?
I think ARAWC inspires us all to not accept the status quo. Instead, we need to push forward and make services better for the injured worker. I mean, the ARAWC organization itself is remarkable but going even further with implementing Q-Care standards …now that’s impressive.
5. Why do you think ARAWC is important to your company?
A friend of mine calls the benefits of ARAWC “sleep insurance”. Realizing that such seasoned/knowledgeable ARAWC representatives are defending non-subscription at the State AND national levels is priceless.
6. Have you had the opportunity to meet and chat with other ARAWC members, either within your industry sector or in general? And what has been your impression of ARAWC and the organization’s efforts so far?
Yes, I have. Most members are exceptional industry leaders and many are Corporate Remedies clients. We are all appreciative of the professional integrity and leadership brought to non-subscription through the ARAWC organization.
